What it is

Pirate Sublease is a simple, free place for Greenville students to hand off a lease or find one. If you're leaving for the summer, studying abroad, graduating, or just need out of your lease, you can post it here in about two minutes. If you're looking for a place, you can browse what's open or post what you're after and let people find you.

No account fees. No commission. No landlords or property managers pushing paid listings — just students helping students avoid paying double rent or scrambling at the last minute.

What you can do

• Post a sublease — add photos, price, dates, amenities, and a map pin. It stays up until you take it down.
• Or post that you're looking — say your budget and move-in dates, and let people with open places reach out to you.
• Message in the app — talk to the other person directly, and get an email the moment someone messages you so you never miss a lead. Your phone number and email stay private until you choose to share them.
• Save favorites — heart the listings you like and find them again in your profile.
• Browse by complex, price, or type — filter to apartments, houses, private rooms, or studios near campus.

Who built it

Pirate Sublease was built by a student at East Carolina University who got tired of watching people struggle to offload leases in scattered Facebook groups and group chats. It's an independent project made for the Greenville college community — ECU, Pitt Community College, and everyone in between.

A note on safety

Pirate Sublease is a place to connect — we don't handle payments, leases, or background checks. Always meet in person or video chat before sending money, verify the place and the person, and loop in your landlord or leasing office before signing anything. If a listing looks off, use the report button and we'll take a look.
